Back home after a fantastic few days in Germany recording with my good friends of the Frankfurt Radio Big Band and the wonderful Portuguese singer Maria João and pianist Mário Laginha...great!(17 Aug 2011)
Julian will be composer in residence for the academic year 2011-12 at the Swiss jazz school in Lucerne, this will involve several visits and a tour of all the jazz schools in Switzerland. (July 2011)
Julian has recently returned to the UK after four hugely successful years with the HR Big Band, Frankfurt. Having worked with many of the jazz world's top musicians with the HR including Dave Liebman, Django Bates, Dave Sanborn, Richie Beirach, Joachim Kühn, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Ana Moura, Billy Cobham, Jim McNeely etc (July 2011)
He's still holds a teaching position at Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.
His Octet is currently Ensemble in Residence at the University of York.
