Laginha Argüelles Norbakken Trio produces an effortless blend of contemporary jazz and classical music, peppered with Portuguese Fado, Spanish folk influences and Norwegian space. Featuring superstar Portuguese pianist Mário Laginha, Award winning British saxophonist / composer Julian Argüelles and phenominal Norwegian percussionist Helge Norbakken. The group’s syncopated rhythms and skillful improvisation has led to them being hailed as "An elegantly soulful slice of contemporary euro-jazz," by Jazzwise.

A fascinating scenario whereby computer technology will be improvising, possibly for the first time at Turner Sims!

Come and listen to the premieres of the winning compositions of our composition competition on October 11 at 19:30 in Studio A in Karlín. The concert will also be broadcast live on the Vltava station, so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your home.
Those interested in jazz composition are invited to a composition workshop with this year’s jury chairman Julian Argüelles on October 12 at 10:00 at the Atelier, HAMU. Admission to the concert and workshop is free!
This year’s competition is open also for composers from Austria and Slovenia. Österreichischer Rundfunk – Radio Ö1 and Radio Slovenia (program ARS) have decided to participate in the organization of the competition, they offer interesting awards in the form of recording sessions and broadcasting of the final concert within the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).
